Postural Assessment
What “perfect” posture really means?
The state of muscular and skeletal balance which protects the supporting structures of the body against injury or progressive deformity….your postural alignment is the foundation to a healthy pain free body.
There is no such thing as “perfect” posture. However, your body is designed to move in an ideal, efficient alignment. When we lose this alignment whether from bad habits, sedentary behaviour, injury, illness or countless of other reasons chronic pain, acute injuries, unnecessary wear and tear or muscle imbalances can occur.
Your posture can be transformed into a more efficient alignment with corrective exercises. These exercises strengthen the muscles that are weak and lengthen the muscles that are short to reduce any muscle imbalances that you may have restoring your body’s balance back to it’s original alignment. This can have dramatic results from improved sport performance to decreasing or even alleviating chronic pain and reducing your chance of injury in the future.
How it works?
I observe your relaxed standing and seated posture in all 4 directions, assess some specific movement patterns and finish with some more specific assessments of range of motion and strength in specific areas of your body of concern. I explain and show you how your posture has shifted and changed and teach you how you can correct your imbalances with specific corrective exercises that I prescribe to you in a home program.
